About Dr. Bird
Educational Background
Bruce completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and English in 1998 and received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 2004. In 2009 he attained the Internal Medicine diploma, Member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP, UK) and has since been elevated to a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London (FRCP, London) with International Advisor responsibility for Trinidad and Tobago.
In 2012 Bruce completed Cardiovascular Fellowship Training with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, USA as part of the Trinidad and Tobago Health Sciences Initiative of the University of Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad W.I. He became Board Certified in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and was the first local physician to hold Fellowship of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (FSCCT). He went on to complete a Masters Degree (MSc) in Cardiovascular Preventative Medicine (with Distinction) and has since devoted his time to the practice of Clinical and Preventive Cardiology and Longevity Medicine.
Posts Held
Bruce has provided Consultant Internal Medicine and Cardiology services at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Trinidad from 2010 to present. He has also worked at the Scarborough General Hospital in Tobago and several private hospitals, including Medical Associates Hospital, St. Augustine Private Hospital and West Shore Medical Private Hospital.
Licensing & Insurance
- Full Medical Registration with the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago from 11th January 2006 (# B-230).
- Specialist registration in Internal Medicine and Cardiology (Specialist Roster formalised 2017) (# S-B-00059).
- Cardiology Medical Malpractice Insurance with Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London – Syndicate WRB 1967 (Exclusive Jurisdiction of the Courts of Trinidad & Tobago).
